The Naughty & Nice Client List

I’m shooting this one from home as Christmas decorations start going up, and it reminded me of a simple exercise I used to do in my firm.

Every year, I had my team create a naughty and nice client list.

Same rule every time:
Who drains energy, disrespects the team, or makes work harder than it needs to be?

What surprised me wasn’t the answers: it was how consistent they were.
The same clients showed up on every list.

So we fired them.

And the impact was immediate.
The team felt protected. Morale went up. Stress went down.
And the “nice” clients quickly replaced the ones we let go.

Life is too short to work with people who aren’t aligned, especially when it’s your team paying the price.
